Child Poverty in Bedford Borough

A Poverty Task force was formed in Bedford Borough in 2010 following the dissolution of the countywide Child Poverty Task Group in 2009. The Beds CPAG Chair and Vice Chaire are members.

A documentary film on child poverty, produced in 2009, was launched in a DVD format in 2010 with additonal training features included. Beds CPAG members had Chair had an input into the material used on the DVD.

The Child Poverty Task Force reports back to the Borough's Social Inclusion, Community Cohesion and Culture Thematic Partnership, which has child poverty as one of its main themes. The Beds CPAG Vice Chair is a member of this Thematic Partnership.

The Task Force has recently produced a Child Poverty Needs Assessment. To view the Needs Assessment please go to the following link: www.bedford.gov.uk/cpna. The Task Force is now working on a series of poverty pledges for the borough.
